chirping/ticking noise

Just got my car out today and its making a weird chirping/ticking noise which sounds like it is coming from the valve train. Could this be my s/a rockers not being adjusted correctly? Its not loud enough IMO to be a spun bearing. The car still screams but I'm just curious if anyone has heard a similar noise and figured it out? I am by no means a mechanic but I did make an appt to have the rockers adjusted Thursday at noon. Any ideas appreciated.

I use a mechanics stethoscope to pin point the noise. I have noisy valve train and sometimes you can adjust to get it to go away.

Re: chirping/ticking noise

Well I found out what my issues were. Apparently the lock nuts on my 1.6 rockers are hitting that back side of the rocker body. I also have at least 4 lifters that aren't loading up right. I have the comp hydraulic lifters now and they have under 2500 miles. Are these things junk and what are my options as far as a better set goes? I would think for over 200.00 for these lifters that they shouldn't be failing with only 2500 miles. I'm really f@#$ing irritated right now. I have too pull my intake for the 3rd time now and am sick of working on this thing.

Re: chirping/ticking noise

Ive hear hit or miss stories on the comp lifters.

have you thought about trying the GMpp ls7 lifters? they are like 170$ for a set. if gm uses em in their ls7's and they are universally used in all lsx motors they must be good.

There's a "sticky" at the top of the "LT1 Based Engine Tech" forum topic listing regarding the Comp lifters.
