Cheapest rebuild?

I spun a rod or main bearing about a month ago, and I need to get this car back on the road for as cheap as possible, I was thinking to do a stock rebuild, my step dad can do the putting back together part. Can I use all my stock parts that are already in and just do the bearings? Or do I need to buy new cam/lifters? Pretty much whats the cheapest (but not a pile of junk) way I can do this. I dont want to go .30 over, and I dont want to buy a new crank because money is tight. and I cant seem to find a lt1 thats already built cheap yet. I found a caprice one, but then it will cost me another $200 to get pcm fixed.

Go to Autozone and get a reman motor! I don't care what anyone says... they get them from a quality shop and you cant beat the price!

if you spun a rod or main bearing there is a good chance you will atleast need to have the crank refinished

other than that its all up to you, can you re-use everything that was stock, sure, do i recomend it, no

So I can reuse all other parts then? I dont need to buy new cam or lifters just basicly a rebuild kit? And have the crank checked.

it really depends on what the parts look like when you pull them. don't use stuff you pull that is questionable, because it may be cheap now but will cost more when you have to do everything all over again not too far down the road. however if the parts look to be in good shape no harm in reusing stuff

how much/little $$ do u have?
You could get a quality eagle or scat cast crank, and both make a pretty good, yet cheap H-beam rod. I know Javier on here runs SCAT rods with his LE2/LE3 setup

If you want cheap, just make sure and don't go "while I have it apart, I might as well XXX". That will cost you money.

If you spun a rod bearing, get the crank ground ($100) and the rods resized ($100), new bearings and put it back together. If you spun a main bearing(unlikely) the block may be junk.

You don't need to replace the cam/lifters, this is not a flat tappet motor. A new timing chain would be a very good idea.

You won't know what''s good until you tear it down and inspect it. But as was said, the cam and lifters are in all likelihood good to go. Really, the whole vavetrain is probably fine.
