Re: cheapest hood

I have the 94 competition ss hood from rk sport, its really nice and the only problems I have had with it so far was a faulty hydrolic control arm, this was I think messed up by the people who put the hood on my car but the hood it self looks awesome, I do not have any pictures up now but I will post this weekend some of them, as a webpage I am currently working on is close to finished

Re: cheapest hood

Summit sells the fiberglass SS hoods made by Harwood for 460.00. That is what I will be ordering next month.

Re: cheapest hood

Harwood makes quality stuff. The only thing I would caution you with ANY purchase of a fiberglass hood, especially from unknown companies.... is the weight of the hood.

Yes, the weight. Some companies use more filler in the construction to save cost, and it makes the hood weigh more. Now most wouldn't care because they want the Look. But as a drag racer, getting 1,2,3,20,50+ pounds off of the nose is worth its weight in gold. So i'll be looking for the lightest of the fiber glass and the cheapest.

Also when you buy used, be aware of the pics, you may not see it, but there may be cracks in it. My bro's hood for his 88 GT stang is a 2-1/2" cowl and in the corners you can bearly see but it has stress cracks, but 3 feet away you cant... so just be careful.

If you buy new, inspect before you have it painted....
