BTW, has anybody ever done a true dual setup with MAC's? I've seen them done before, but I just wanted to know if anybody on the board has done it? I found a shop down in Texas that does it, but they want $550 bucks to do it, PLUS shipping. So I'll just buy the reducers, x-pipe, turn downs, bullets and have the pipe bent by a local shop.

Where is the cheapest place to buy an x-pipe junction? The cheapest I've found so far is a Hedman for a 100 bucks from Summit. I also found one from Dr.Gas for just about the same.

It'd be fairly easy, but a bit more complicated. You'd have to bring some pipe down from the header collectors, you might just want to chop up a y-pipe to do it. Then instead of going into y, extend both pipes back into an x-pipe.

Terminator 3" x-pipe from Summit = $38. Part # = BIG-53621

As for $550? I had a friend of mine who works at a Meinike piece my parts together for $200. Keep shopping.

the loudest muffler is going to be pretty close to the loudness of the cutouts.

if you go by your plat your just gonna have extreemly loud all the time.
Yeah, Because the cutouts and dynomax's will be about as loud, unless the cutouts are right off the header, but clearance sucks with the cutouts up that far.

I had the dual cutout y-pipe w/ DMH e-cutouts then it went back into a Flowmaster muffler in a stock style cat-back. The Flowmaster was perfect for loudness. It was loud, but didn't hurt my ears, and had a nice tone to it. Then for super-duper-pooper-loudness, I popped open the cutouts.

Well, I guess I'm a dumbass, because I didn't realize that the dynomax bullets are THAT loud. So what would be a little quiter muffler?

Thanks for the help and input guys.

Here is the thing. If your dumpin the exhaust before the axle like most of us have done then cutouts would be pointless since there only about three more feet of extra pipe after a good placed cutout. Just go duals with bullets. It is not that loud as you are thinking. I think it is perfect. The car is loud but still not so bad that under normal driving conditions you will get pulled over unless you have a cam!! Now when you are giving the car hell and ripping gears it is as loud as you could imange. But if you are going that fast you will get pulled over for speeding and noise violation.

I'd like to see someone with true duals throw on a pair of chambered pipes for mufflers. They are only like 30 bux.

Axe,
If I remember correctly, Kmook doesn't even have that car anymore and he never got the chance to get an outside clip of the car.

I have LTs and bullets, pretty much identical to Kmooks. It is REALLY LOUD at WOT, not bad at idle at all, and cruise is pretty annoying, the best thing though is its just loud, it doesn't resonate like flowmaster junk does. I switched to Borla XS mufflers and its quieter than stock but sounds better. Believe me, the bullets get old. BTW, where is Peltzer? Im in Columbia/Irmo and wouldn't mind letting you hear the difference between the 2. I had my bullets and the new mufflers flanged so I could swap them. Most friends say the bullets sound like a nascar. My car is too slow to sound that way. Needs to run 11s on motor if its gonna sound like that!

i when i first put a dual exhaust on my car, i ran the dynomax 2 1/2 mufflers and 2 1/2 pipe in and out. could only handle noise for about 2 days. then i installed a complete dual 3 inch exhaust with flowmaster mufflers. much happier. the dynomax mufflers were way to loud.

I have 96 97 macs w/orp and loud mouth. to loud and I removed the expansion tube and put a single chamber flow master in and it sounds great. A friend of mine just did this on a head cam LS1 but X-pipe and true duals with two single chamber flows 71 each and they sound great. I can say for a fact that his car sounds better than the same w/bullets.
