Changing Rocker Studs ?
Changing Rocker Studs ?
When I do my roller rockers this winter, I was going to get 7/16 NSA with 7/16s studs ...
My question is:
Dont the old ones just thread out and the new one threads in? No need to re-tap the heads correct?
I was under the impression that I wouldnt have too, the head side of the studs are the same thread/pitch.
However, some guy yesterday was telling me I would have to pull the heads and blah blah blah to get them to tap them to the correct threads and that its not worth the work. I was almost positive he was wrong, but now im second guessing myself ...
Also, Is this everything I'll need for the job ?
Comp Pro Mag's 1.6 RR
GM Guide Plates
LT4 Springs, Locks/Retainers
Valve Seals ( While im in there )
Valve Spring Compressor
Also, since my car is a 95', it has hardened push rods, so wouldnt it be pointless to upgrade them now? I was going to wait until I have the money all saved to build my stroker motor.

Re: Changing Rocker Studs ?
If youre talking about the heads that came on your 95Z you are correct. The guy you spoke to yesterday would be correct in the case of LT1 iron heads & most/many other heads which have pressed in studs which you would indeed have to tap for new studs.
