95 lt1 oilpan leak

Oil pan gaskets leaking. wondering if it's possible to replace with the motor in the car? I've had the oil pan off plenty ls1's by dropping the k member, just wondering about steps to doing the lt1.

Thanks!!

Re: 95 lt1 oilpan leak

yes, it can be done. I have done it. Your going to need to prob jack up the motor abit if u want to work easier. But if u drop the pan now you will get about an inch or so of space between the pan and block, the oil pan gasket is one piece so we fished it into the pan and pulled it out the front with a hooker clothes hanger :-) worked well. Have fun, some of those bolts are hard to get to. I had it alittle easy cus i had the trans out when we did it.

Dont have to pull it all the way off. I got mine off with the motor and trans in the car. That was a PITA but it can be done if you want but theres no need. Drop it enough to get the gasket around and RTV the hell out of it or it'll leak. Thats what happened to me.
