Some of the newer cars come with 3750 intervals now. But, with an oil change costing me around $20 its not alot of money savings waiting another 1k miles, so its up to you.

I pay $2.25qt for QS Semi Synth.

Most semi synthetic oils out there aren't even synthetic at all, they use 10% group 3 petroleum base oil. Mobil's semi synthetic is a true synthetic, but still only uses 10% PAO base oil.

The semi synthetic I run is called Schaeffer Supreme and it's about 20-25% synthetic and has proven itself to be a very long drain oil. I've seen results with this oil going beyond 10,000 miles. I ran my last interval to 4300 miles and the guy who analyzes my oil reports said to try 8000 miles on the next interval. This oil is only about $3 per quart, but yet it ranks right up there with the best full synthetics.

If you can't find Schaeffer oil in your town, send an email here to find out who your local rep is:
