Changing LT1 plug wires

So, here is my question. Does anyone have any tips to make this easier? I havent even started on the passenger side, and I have the front three done on the driver side. The rear one on the driver side seems REALLY WEIRD because the wire goes behind the exhaust manifold, between the engine, but the boot doesnt seem to fit in the space there. Is there something I do? Do I just jam it in there? Thanks.

Move the car up on the curb from the driveway with the driver side wheel at a high point.Set the brake, put it in gear, crawl undernieth the car,and you will see the driver side plug, but be very carefull not to brake the oil sending unit(silver long thing with a wire attached to it, it breaks real easy, Many bad words came from my mouth when I broke this).Don't over tighten the new plugs.
Use wheel chocks on the back tires.I use a shorty flex head rachet on some plugs, but I really like my 3/8 drive flex head rachet, especially on the back pass.side plug(from the top)it's about a foot long.Put a blanket on the fender so you don't scratch the fenders. It seems the #2 Plug gave me the most trouble. It's a touchy feely kind of thing(hurts my back,in a good kinda way).(Pass. side front of car.)The main thing is to take your time, should take about two hours or so for the first time. When you remove the plug wires(only for the plug being change at one at a time,)don't just yank them off, gently twist and turn them.Make sure they don't touch anything when you put them back on(wires arching).Use a little anti seize stuff on the plugs, and use a Q tip to put some die electric greese on the plug wires.I put some on the top of the plug as well. But before you do anything,REMOVE the negative cable from the battery.( I do use some extensions on my rachets at times.)Beer helps.no interuptions also help.Hope this helps. Also, the motor should be COLD.

No, don't just jam it in there. There are 2 10mm bolts which hold a wire guide to the block for the #7 plug wire. The 2 bolts are directly underneath the exhaust manifold, in the block. The front 10mm bolt must be completely removed, but the rear one only needs to be loose, as the guide is slotted for this bolt.

Remove that guide and the #7 wire will be MUCH easier to replace.

Did you buy stock size replacement wires, or did you get something like 8 or 8.5mm replacements?

Thomas.
