Changeing themp gauge sensor

I bought the 3 prong sensor that you put into the waterpump where the PCM gets its temp reading, now, the stock sensor is plug into the block between the front two sparkplugs on the drivers side, right? I thought it was it, but i on pluged it (the gauge sensor) to see if the temp gauge wouldn't work....but the engine wouldn't stay started worth anything.

Sounds odd. The gauge sensor in the head should only have one wire and should not have anything to do with engine management.

The sensor in the water pump should have two wires going to it from the computer.

Yea, i got it...the tempature gauge now runs off of the same gauge that runs the PCM. But without the tempature gauge plugged in, the car would die as soon as i started it.(could kinda keep it alive by trying to revve it, but it would run like crap.) But everything works fine.
