Change Spark Plugs
You won't neec to remove the wheel, just jack the car up and you should have no problem getting at most of them from the bottom. A plug/wire change is not the most fun job on these cars, most likely why most shops charge what they do to do such a job.
Yeah, if you still have the factory manifolds it is best to go from underneath. If this is your first time I'd recommend doing it on a weekend when you have plenty of time because it will take a while.
Also..
Just as an FYI it is easier to answer your question if we know what mods (if any) have been done to your car and what year it is. I am assuming it is a stock LT1 car?

Unless your nickname is "Mr. Skinny Arms" you will have issues with the passenger side plugs - #2 is a pain if you have an AC compressor in the way - you might find it easier to remove the alternator, and maybe drop the starter, and possibly, but not necessarily, the Y pipe for the back couple plugs. When you get done with the plugs & wires, and your car still runs, you will feel just like one of the crew. Start on a Friday and remember, it's all about having fun
