CCV Valve & PCV Valve

What's the function difference of these two components? I know the PCV is Positive Crankcase Ventilation, but I've never heard of a CCV valve. I replaced the CCV Valve with a PCV valve, under the assumption that it was the PCV valve.

Thanks, Keith

I've never heard of the CCV, or at least it under that name. What is it?

The PCV valve is the line that runs under your throttle body to the driver side, its that big metal line.

The CCV valve goes from the passenger side valve cover to the passenger side of the throttle body. I'm assuming its Crank Case Ventilation, but I thought the PCV valve did that.

Thats what I thought you were talking about. I took mine off, capped the plug on the TB with a vacuum cap, and put a air filter breather on the valve cover.

The only thing that is located in that hose is an empty 90deg plastic elbow that connects the hose to the valve cover. There is no "valve". That hose supplies filtered, MAF measured air from a port in front of the throttle body blades, flowing to the valve cover. From there, the air is pulled through the crankcase and the lifter valley, and out the PCV valve. Removing the passenger side line accomplishes nothing (unless excessive blowby is loading up your TB with oil), and "opens up" what is supposed to be a "closed" system - in effect, creates a vacuum leak. Nothing that the long term fuel corrections can't overcome, but I have never understood why people feel they have to install "breathers".

CCV, could you mean CCPV? Carbon-Canister-Purge-Valve?

that's a small black box on the PS of the intake manifold, with about 3 lines hooked up to it... that vents the Carbon-Canister on the PS of the car...
