Re: CC306 vs 227/233

Well i'll give you an example....

A did a cam for a 383 with LT1 castings and a single plane that peaked HP at 6975rpm and it had 260 degs of duration.

Almost any motor will pull a vacuum at higher RPM, usually you try to shoot for 1" or less at max power, but that's carb or TB related.

As for the 350 LT1 and 7,000rpm it all depends on the heads.... it's going to be hard for a stock LT1 head to peak HP there no matter how much cam you throw at it.

Ditto, if the headers aren't on yet, do that first.

In racing there's a difference between "old ***" technology and "proven" technology.

The cc306 may be old technology but it is "proven" to work.

Yes, but if you can make the same or more power with smaller durations and lifts, but faster valve events, then you have a much more efficient motor.

Indeed.... but don't knock the "classics"

Chris if you want I'll sell you my edeljunks... good for -7hp.... then you'll learn a good lesson in "exhaust flow" the hard way...

No thanks. I can hardly stand the Macs I already have.

Re: CC306 vs 227/233

What about the XE grinds in that very same 227/233 range ( .560/.569) at 112 LSA with those steep ramp rates, they are supposed to make power all over the place due to the steep ramp rates right ??

The 306 debate is very confusing as you see as many people saying Nay to decent low down trq and lack of vacuum but you'll also see people telling otherwise ................
My impression was that the CC 306 would always be a bit sluggish around town, i could be mistaken.

Re: CC306 vs 227/233

I didn't mean for the CC306 people to be offended... Those weren't my words... well they were, but I was just repeating what other people have told me. L0L

I know my engine still has some more left in it... Probably like 10 more rwhp and 2lbs of torque or so. Torque curve is pretty flat so I wouldn't imagine anymore out of the it but the hp was just climbing so steady. I pulled off early because I was running really lean.

Only made 1 pull
almost a 14 a/f ratio
tuned to 112lsa cam
pulled only to 5450 when revving to 6k.

I meant potential wise... how much more potential on stock heads does the CC306 have over the XE227/233. And from what I grabbed from cms.com. This is a new design for our engines only. But I could be wrong. I was just curious.

And no... the only power gains this car has are the Loudmouth catback and the complete valvetrain swap. NOTHING else, not even a ram air filter.
