QUOTE]ok so it would be hard to get the 306 to pass unless i get it tuned so would a 305 pass?[/QUOTE]

Yes, a cc305 will pass easy. Don't let the fact that the numbers being close to each other fool you, the cams are no where close to being similar. The 305 puts out significantly less power. Hope this helps. Jason

Re: CC306 etc.

Im not trying to knock you because I am basically in the same boat. But, if you are going to spend 1200 to try and do it the cheap way where as you could spend around 1600 with lloyd and get the LE2 heads and cam package its pretty much a no brainer. Save some extra money or sell something to get the head work done. Plus when you recieve your heads back the cam and everything will be installed so all you will have to do is bolt the heads onto the block. Defiantly worth the money just to be able to save the time on putting it together yourself. Plus you know someone skilled in that area assembled it for you.

Just my .02 cents.

Whatever you choose. I am sure you will like it. I am planning on doing the tuning my self because I have an OBDI car using FreeScan.

Re: CC306 etc.

If your looking to surprise a few LS1's, then go with the cc305. If your having your heads P/P with good valves, then by allmeans go with the 306 and let them breath. I can't agree with someone saying the 305 is mean sounding though. I have one in my current stoker (I'm basically using it to break in the motor and until I can save up some more scratch for a REAL cam.. hehe). it WILL make good power (hell, I'm trapping 115 with zero tuning in 90+ degree weather), but it sounds like a barely warmed over motor to me. I had it in my 355 too, and it DID sound a bit better in the smaller motor, but still nothing fantasic.

If you have factor in emissions though, I would steer clear of the 306 and go with something like the 305. The wider LSA and less duration will definately help to pass.

Another opinion. Take it for what it's worth. Zippo

Re: CC306 etc.

Bringing this topic back up.. I've been talking to a local LT1 guy and he suggested the GM 847. Did a bunch of research on it and it seems like it is a bigger cam, has less surge, and overall performance is better. Plus it is cheaper! Anyways, I'm not going to be doing this stuff until next year sometime because it is going to end up costing close to $1000. And then there are all those damn hidden costs.. Emissions won't be an issue, because my parents have a place in eastern Washington with an address, and no emissions in that county.

Re: CC306 etc.

Re: CC306 etc.

well, without p/p heads and good valves like said before...your gonna be choking the motor. Just my input and personal opinion, been in the same boat as you.

Poik: I also heard the same thing (OBD2 test for inspections). They say as long as you dont have ANY codes being thrown, you'll pass. But I dont understand how could that be possible with emissions? We can have big SR's or HR's and not throw any codes? Sounds tooooo good to be true.

Re: CC306 etc.

You can get your pcm reprogrammed so it wont throw codes... IE: Removal of EGR and Air. I know madz28 can remove those codes so they will not show. But I think a manual inspection would cause you to fail more than anything.

Re: CC306 etc.

I get at least 25ish on the highway w/ my 305...so you will definately lose a few more mpg w/ that cam.

Re: CC306 etc.

If your obd-2 and your reprogrammed so it wont throw codes and your worried about a visual inspection..... just go into the test station 2 minutes before they close on a friday! No ones gonna pop your hood at closing time on a friday to look for stuff, well maybe in california they will. But tahts just another reason not to live in cali!
