You can get different LSA's but a CC306 is a CC306, if you vary it you are changing the part itself from an off the shelf cam to a slighty different cam. Unless I am wrong on this one. Anyone else?

Ramiro don't worry about the cam dowel pin issue unless you are having a recurring problem with your opti. The 95+ cams come with a longer dowel pin then 93 and 94's. The only way you will have a problem is if the pin is too long and I would think you would be able to tell if the pin was too long if you opti did not fit flush with the timing cover. If you ordered the right cam you should not have to cut the pin to fit your application, thats BS. I'm not saying it couldn't happen, but I would say it rarely happens.

Most likely you do not have the dowel pin in the right hole or not in a hole at all. The opti can seem like it is all the way on, but it will end up being about a 1/8" from being flush with the timing cover. If it is not completely flush with no effort whatsoever then you probably do not have the opti on the car correctly. It will end up heating the bearing in the opti and it will eventually kill it and possibly melt your connector.

Ramiro, the 306 will work fine. I think the heads that you have are holding you back. Get some heads from LE and you should put down some better numbers. The 847 will make similar power, but have better midrange and low rpm drivability than the 306 IMO.

Then again, maybe they some how got longer pins then they should have or they just botched the opti install. Did they measure from the face of the cam to the farthest point inside the hole for the opti pin?

I got the heads from Ebay for a great price. They looked real good even though he had no flow #'s. The ports are HUGE! He told me they flowed 28X/205 @ .600. They were on a Vette with the GM847 and put down 425RWHP in CA. I just might get a bigger cam to see what it does!
