So is the timing set gen 1 then? Most of the time people go to the gen 1 smallblock timing set and then go with an electric waterpump. The gen 1 double roller timing set is a little stronger than the stock setup but doesn't have a gear to drive the waterpump on the cam sprocket, thus the need for an electric waterpump.

Yes to my knowledge it is. Previous owner of the car, or possibly the guy before him, put them in.
The only sets I have seen are Chevy Small Block Gen 1 Gear Drive Sets.
So will that make cam selection easier or harder? As in will I have to replace them and go back to a timing chain setup, or will I be able to keep the gears?
The noise grows on ya lol. I like it. And mine is the only 4th gen I've seen(heard) with timing gears.
Me and my friends take bets as to wether we think someone will guess right: "you got gears in that?" or wrong: "dude, your power steering is going out, you should get that looked at" whenever someone new hears the car. Then theres the guys that think it sounds like a supercharger at low RPMs in first gear.
They sound cool and they make for interesting/funny(supercharger? your kiddin right? you don't really think it sounds like that do you?) reactions from people sometimes.
I'd like to keep em if I can.
