cc306 ?

i have this cam and took the heads to a machine shop and they told me after everything was said and done it would cost me 800 to get the heads ready for the cam

A lot depends on what you are having done to the heads. If you are leaving them stock and they are in good shape all you have to do is change the springs and while you are at it might as well change the seals. That is the bare mimimum. Springs, retainers, and clips. Then maybe roller 1.6 rockers.
If the shop is porting or rebuilding the heads and adding springs you my be in the $800 range. I personally like the single conical springs from comp. No machining necessary and provides romm for the life your cam makes.

its getting milled,pocket porting,seals and a valve job....the guy said to set up the heads for the cam it would needne retainers, bigger spring perches for the new springs and machining the head to fit the new perches

There are some drop in springs that work with that cam on stock seats. Just make sure they tell you what you can use after they machine it.
