CC promagnum rockers and stock valve covers
CC promagnum rockers and stock valve covers
Anyone have problems with the adjusting nut on the stud hitting the top of the stock valve covers? I tweaked the centerbolt supports, so that the valve covers would go on, but they seem to be hitting the adjusting nut of my Promagnum roller rockers. What is everyone else using for valve covers?
The nuts should not hit the valve cover. What I would check is that you did not put any of the rockers in with the fulcrum upside down. There is a top and a bottom. The top is machined out to let the nut fit inside. If you have it flipped over, the nut will stick up more. It should be easy to tell if any are upside down, by the amount the allen lock is turned in. If there are any that are turned in appreciably more than others, they would be suspect.

Ditto what shoe said.
If you rotate the arm 180 degrees, while holding the center section, you will see that they are different . One side is countersunk a little so that the jam nut sits into it, the other just has the samll hole. You want the countersunk hole facing upwards

also when we did the install my friend clipped a bit of the support arms of the centerbolt guides with a dremel for clearance...
thanks guys. The rockers are all on right. I haven't tightened them down yet, so I suspect that is the problem. I just figured that even after they are tightened, they would still be really close to the top of the valve cover. I wondering if I could use stock valve covers, or if I should get taller ones. As to the centerbolt supports, I just flattened out the portion that was hitting.
www.ftforce.com is by far the cheapest. Only thing is that i have read that their customer service is HORRIBLE.
What i did was have another company price match them. (tons of companies will do this (ie ls1 speed, tbryne, etc))

[edit] oops, I take that back. The 7/16ers were not as cheap. I bet they will price match, though.
Even after surgery to the 1/2 of each center-bolt web support, I had some very light tapping on the stock valve covers. Just needed the usual "light whacks with a hammer" cure - not even visible from the outside. Not sure if it is related to the amount of lift... I'm close to 0.600" gross.

I'll never purchase from RaceNet One again. I bought the majority of my cam/valvetrain setup from them, but as it was previously mentioned, their customer service is terrible. I still have a set of Crane lifters sitting around that took them 3 months to get to me. I called and e-mailed numerous times to cancel the order for the lifters and was never credited back. Then after I have purchased a set of Comp lifters elsewhere, put the motor together and in the car, and broke the motor in, I finally get the lifters.
I didn't want to deal with them any longer so I just kept the lifters.I have the Pro Mags with my stock valve covers. I modified the center supports, but have had no trouble hitting anywhere else.
