Cats
Cats
ok im either gonna cut if off and put on an off road pipe... keep it on but gut it... or get a high flow cat... help me out here... i have emissions here in nj and i already have slp loudmouth exhaust... which is the way to go? id like some more noise and some more power... and my cat is pretty much dead anyways
No way it will pass NJ emissions without a cat. And are you aware that there is a program that sets up roadside emissions checks? They pull cars over at random, and do a COMPLETE rolling dyno check and a COMPLETE visual check. The people staffing these mobile hit squads have all the documentation and knowledge required to spot non-conforming parts.

Relative to NJ, MI isnt so bad
NY still owns you all
I wouldn't take any chances. Taking the cats off, or gutting them won't give you a whole lotta hp anyways, so just get the high-flow ones. I gutted mine, and nothing changed.
And you probably know that the fines are outrageous.
Long live Florida, the land of no-emissions.

I failed w/ flyin colors after gutting my cats in NJ...and it really didnt give me anything anyway...ended up gettin some cheap hi flow cats from summit..Jersey Blows when it comes to our cars
yeah i hear what your saying... ill go with a high flow cat... what kind should i get? i dont want to pay $300 for one... NY does rule... u see that yankee vs red sock game today? awesome game... go yanks
That sucks but they do the same crap in california with that portable rolling test. Just get yourself a high flow cat instead of that test pipe. I see carsound cat's for under $75 on ebay. Brand new all the time.
