Difference in LT1 and LS1 Cat-back?????

What is the difference between the cat-back for an LS-1 and the LT1? I have a 1997 Z28 and my friend has a cat back off of an LS1 car. My main question is what all would need to be done to put this on my ride?

Re: Cat-Back?????????

i can't tell u for sure, but i think the stock cat back on a ls1 is a little bigger than a lt1. i believe it is goes from 3" to 2.75" on a ls1 to 3" to 2.5" on a lt1. someone correct me if i am wrong.

They are somewhat interchangeable though(I do not know from a performance angle). On my Z (LT1) the previous owner traded in for a LS1 and had a performance cat-back on it and swapped them when he got the newer car. So now i have a lt1 w/ a ls1 cat back, no muffler and a glasspack (when i took it in to the exhaust shop is when i learned all this info.)

P.S. you may not want to TTT so fast you may **** the admins and other people off

Re: Cat-Back?????????

what kind of ls-1 is it off of? if its off of a firehawk or ss its most likely the slp dual dual which is a 3 inch exhuast, and sounds pretty good IMO. (sounds better w/ longtubes and ory) if its off a z-28, t/a, or ws6 i dont think its worth the time and your money. if the exhuast is off the car take a tape measure and measure it.

The cat-back off his car is the 3" american thunder flowmaster.

Re: Cat-Back?????????

well from how you typed it, it sounded like you were going to put a stock ls-1catback on your lt-1....but nothing is different. the flowmaster should bolt up. 93-95 lt-1 have an S bend that doesnt allow ls-1 exhuasts to bolt up.....but 96-97 are fine
