Cast iron head lt1

I'm pulling my 94 lt1 and while I am building It I want to drop in a vast iron head lt1 out of a 96 impala would the cam from my aluminum head engine add any performance to the cast head motor? Any difference in the engines other than the heads?

Iron heads flow marginally better, but that is easily offset (and then some) by the added weight.

I know they flow slightly better this is just a cheap motor to keep me on the road until I build the one that's in it which has a rod knocking. My main question is would the cam be worth trading out since I won't be reusing it?

Even if the cams are different...

IMO since it is just a build gap motor I wouldn't bother putting any more money into it than absolutely necessary... Remember swapping cams means new gaskets, seals and time.

Cams are different:

But why change it.... you will have a lower compression ratio with the Caprice engine, and the iron heads will not allow as much timing advance as the aluminum heads.

Is the compression ratio the same in both motors? If I swap the heads off my bad engine onto the good one. I am going to be driving this around for probably a year or so. I am going to replace all the gaskets in the engine before I swap it cause It has a slight oil leak in the front.
