Cast heads and CC306

Im going to be running a cast head on my 383 with a CC306 cam and 1.6 rockers. I was wondering if anyone knew what valve spring that i need to use on this setup. I know the same ones on the aluminum heads wont work on the cast heads. I got a good deal on the heads is the reason that i went with the cast.

Re: Cast heads and CC306

you will also need to have screw in studs installed. the pressed in studs will pull out with that cam.

The springs don't care what the head is made of, same ones will work.

Re: Cast heads and CC306

The guy i talked to from crane said i will have to machine the head. He said something about the spring height was different. He said the crane valve spring and lock set thats on my aluminum heads would not work. I guess he is talking about machining where the spring sits.

Re: Cast heads and CC306

That's not hard to do IF the head is off the motor... There are some cutters you can get from Isky and Comp that will machine the spring pockets for you.
