Car wont start SOMETIMES but starts most times???
I have been having this problem with my car for the past 2 weeks.
Most of the times it fires up and runs great....Then about 3 times in the past 2 weeks, I tried to start it and it would not start, It would not even turn over. So I figured it was the starter crapping out with 85K+ miles on it. So this weekend I had Mufflex install my Coated Jet-Hot Long Tubes with a custom off road Y-pipe and instaled a new LT4 starter on my car. Well the car did the same exact thing agian, it will not start even with the new starter. The dude from Mufflex told me it was the battery but I cant see how the battery would let the car start on some days and not others, especially when its not even turning over at times and I can go drive the car, then shut it down and go back out in 2 hours and it wont start. And after about 4 tires in the same 2 hours it will turn over and fire up and run perfectly withOUT using jumper cables to start it.
Its not throwing any codes or security light or check guages either when it does this. And its so wierd cuz sometimes I will go out and it will not start up or turn over but then after about 4-5 tries it will fire up and run perfectly.
Could this be the battery or do you think its something esle?
I will have the battery checked out but I wanted to get some opinions on what else to look for just incase its not the battery.
PS. the battery is an Excide battery and has 4 years on it.
Thanks,
Claude

Hey,
This may sound simple, but have you checked the battery connections. Sometimes the bolts just don't seat properly. I would check teh cables and the connections on both ends. It happened to me and it's worth a shot. Hope it's that simple for you.

Just wanted to post that I may have fixed the problem.
I got the car back yesterday and checked the terminals and they were fine. So I decided to take the battery off and take it to Autozone to get it tested...It would accept a charge at 12Volts but when the Tester put a load on the battery, it dropped between 9-10 Volts. After a minute test, the tester indicated a Bad Battery. I replaced it last night with a new battery and it seems to be working better. I figured I would post this just incase anyone else runs into this problem.
Thx,
Claude
