Car won't start need help
Car cranks but it will not start. The last time it started it seemed harder to start but other then that I never noticed anything. Any ideas on the most likely thing it is?
Now and then mine won't start (but cranks fine). I found that if I hold the gas peddle to the floor and crank it, it fires up. This is used to start a flooded car, but I've had this happen after the car sat for 2 days! After it starts, it runs fine and doesn't have a starting issue again for 6 months! Don't know the cause, just found that holding the gas peddle to the floor works.
Worked for me too. My car has also been sitting for about 2 weeks and the last time I noticed it had trouble starting it had been sitting for about 2 days. Since the car is fuel injected I decided not to bother trying that but after reading that it worked for you I decided to give it another shot. You saved my ***
If your in to fixing the problem, you may want to look at the fuel pressure once the car is shut off. If the pressure bleeds down then you have one of the 3 things going on. Assuming you don't have a fuel line leak and you have stock equipment.
Either you have a leaky fuel injector, a hole in the fuel pressure regulator diaphragm or the check ball in the fuel pump is sticking.
In the other guys case he probably has a leaky fuel injector since he puts the PCM in flooded mode to start the car. I think in your case you probably have a bad check ball in the fuel pump and the fuel is draining back or closer to the tank.
Pull the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose off and make sure it is not wet. Then have your fuel injectors prefessionally cleaned through the rails.
