Hey SLP Shorty guys.....

I'm throwing in my motor this weekend and was wondering if the SLP shorties were hard to get in. Basically I'm trying to figure out if I should (or can) install them with the motor when I drop it in or if I should put them in later.

Are you dropping it in from the top or going from the bottom? I would think they would go in easier with them on from the bottom but it may make it from the top also, I havn't pulled my motor yet though. They weren't that hard to install with the motor in, I didn't have to jack the engine or anything. The biggest pita for me was removing the dipstick and the steering shaft to get them in.

It's better from the bottom. It's a little aggravating due to access and tight fits, but you'll get it.

Put the headers on while the engine is out and then put the motor in from the bottom if you can. Otherwise it is a PITA to install the headers once the motor is in!

The passenger side was easy on mine but the drivers side was a lil more work.Remove the stearing arm [no big deal] and I had to use a small bottle jack and block of wood to hold the motor of the mount then it went rite in [wont fit between the motor and floor pan].I have an auto not sure about a M6 but that should get ya started.

If you want to install them first I would try installing them loosely with 2 or 3 bolts on each header with the gasket on. That way you have some play with the clearance when dropping it in. Or maybe you can drop it in all bolted up tight, don't know. Either way it's not that hard to install them with the motor in.
