Angry car wont start HELP PLEASE

just before i did the TH350 swap the car would not start i thought it was a bad start because i would hit the starter and it would start. so i replaced the starter and made sure that the neutral safety switch was correct and still nothing. the only thing i get is the acc. headlights, horn everything but as soon as i turn the key nothing not even a click. i checked the ohms in the key(thechip) and they were 2.38 so i took apart the vat connection under the dash and checked the ohms there with the key in the start position. the reading was the same so this means that the chip in the key is not bad. correct?
can anyone helpl me please very aggrivated i feel like pushing this dang thing in the river.

Re: car wont start HELP PLEASE

Will a wiring diagram help? Pretty sure the 1994 is the same as 1995. This is like your third thread on this problem.

Sounds like the key pellet is ok. If you don't have a security light, I would not be chasing anything in that system.

My suggestion is to use the wiring diagram and a meter to trace what is happening when you turn the key.

Yes. Thats why it would be a good idea to trace what is happening while turning the key.
run mode obviously works (lights come on etc) but when you turn it to start is where it sounds like your problem is.
I would make sure all your connections on the starter are good first.

Re: car wont start HELP PLEASE

when i bought the new starter it had 2 small posts but one of them had a yellow tag on it and it said something like if u only have one of the small posts use this. so if i were to hook it up bacwards (swap the small posts) would it start?

Been a while since my header install and thats the last time I was messing with the starter.....swap it and see what happens.
It may be on the wrong post.

Re: car wont start HELP PLEASE

What happened when you checked the wiring for the neutral safety switch and the possible problems with the Hurst Quarter-stick shifter?

This is the problem with scattergunning multiple posts on the same problem... the people trying to help you don't get all the info.

Ah ......Injuneer has a very good point.
I did not know about the aftermarket shifter.
The nuetral safety switch could very well be the problem.
That would explain the working accessory but no start problem.

Re: car wont start HELP PLEASE

yes when i installed the hurst quarterstick it would not start same problem. then i found out that i didnot have the neutral safety switchhook up. i found out which wire they were and cut them and stripped them and just twisted then together just the see if that was the prob. after finding the correct wires and putting them together i still had the same prob.

no offense Injuneer but i only had one reply to my post and that is why i "scaddergunned" the posts that way. i thought eliminated some of the issues that is why i reposted the way i did.

Hmmm.....I would test the wires at the starter and see whats up there.
Make double sure you have taken care of the nuetral safety switch problem.
