Unhappy Car won't start

Help - my '93 z28 (totally stock) has just decided it doesn't want to start. It has been starting first turn, even on cold mornings or after standing but suddenly doesn't want to fire. I spins over OK but will not fire. The opti and other ignition componenets were replaced about 3000 miles ago and the car hasn't been run in the wet very much.
There is a slight smell of gas under the hood after cranking it over but does this mean that there is enough reaching the engine. It is obviously either gas or ignition but what would be you're best guesses. It cam on very suddenly, unlike the problems I had when the opti was replaced. Please help a poor limey!
Thanks guys

If you are smelling gas it must not be firing.Pull a plug and ground it .Have someone crank the starter to check for spark. If no spark, either the coil or ignition module are suspect.

Pull the injector fuse and the coil wire from the opti. Hold the wire about 1/4" or so from a good ground (engine block, bracket, ect.) and have someone crank the car to check for spark.

Are you sure you don't have a killer after you?
