noticed this a couple of days ago but didnt think much of it but car bangs rev limiter at wot between 1 and 2 shift i even tried shifting the car manually but same result ?????? i know of the problem of converters a4s and obd1 but my car always shifted fine ...what gives??

 

I guess it could be the obd1 high stall issue...i never had any issues with mine either.

 

if you want you could try to switching the shift sol. and see if the problem moves to the 2-3 shift but to do that you have to drop the pan.

 

I had the exact same issue. I was using an edge 3000 stall coverter as well. I had the converter switched out to a 2800 and also had the Sonnax valve body fix and it fixed the problem. I'm not sure if it was the changing of the stall, or the valve body fix, perhaps both put together?

 

yes but this just started i have had the obd1 conversion for a while a never had any issues. could it still be the pcm or is the trans not shifting under load?? new trans??

 

If its banging the limiter on the 1 to 2 shift, or a HARD downshift, your tranny is probably going. My fluid pressure selinoid was dying and I killed my tranny. I found this out after my clutches went to ****.

Get it to a transmission place, a GOOD ONE.

 

also i am going to say its not the stall wall issue, if the PCM was touched by Bryan Herter at PCMforless, from last I heard, he has gotten that up to 3000rpms, but also remember most motors (stock diusplacement) may not get that high up in the rpm. My 383 which makes TONS of torque, I got a 2500 rpm stall just to make sure I dont go over the line. A friend with a 396 and a 2800 stall did hit the wall and it throws a SES light and puts the tranny in 3rd, so no stall wall for you.

 

im thinking transmission also since i never had the problem before and i had the obd1 for a while! so any others vote trans?

 

i ahd that problem when i got my new convertor. turned out to be low on fluid... somtimes its the simple things in life.

 

converters been in there for a couple of months now but thanks will check fluid . hmmmmmm??

Typical GM transmission. This doesn't mean that the transmission is failing, if the fluid is clean then you are good. To correct the problem have a shift kit installed.

 

now do you mean electric or the kit itslef? what is the diff? advantage / disadvantage?

 

the kit would kill it for sure wouldnt it well from what i heard. the trans has 100k miles.
