Car won't idle, already replaced IAC
Car won't idle, already replaced IAC
My car starts fine, but doesn't idle. It got progressively worse throughout the day, and now won't idle at all. I tested the IAC and had 57 Ohms across the terminals, which checks out OK. I thought maybe the pintle was bad, so I replaced it anyway. Unfortunately no change.
I checked for vacuum leaks but haven't found anything. I'm not getting any codes either.
Any ideas?

You didn't say if you have a running issue when driving. You could use an IR thermometer on the exhaust manifold and see if any cylinders aren't firing. Another less high tech method is to spray water on the manifold to see which one is cold.
How do you know you aren't getting codes?

The car was running fine, but when I stopped it would stall. It did it once in the morning, and then started doing it every other time I stopped at a light. Eventually it refused to idle at all. Still has plenty of power when I'm giving it gas, no skips or nothing.
When I say I'm not getting any codes, I'm referring to no SES light, which isn't necessarily the same thing.
I don't think it's a cylinder, because like I said I've still got power. It just refuses to idle.
Any other suggestions?

The next thing to check is the EGR. Sounds like it's stuck open. Remove it, clean it and make sure it's moving smoothly. Apply vacuum(suck on the hose) to be sure it goes in and out. Get a new gasket when you put it back.
If that doesn't help, try the TPS. It can be checked with an ohm meter before you replace it.

Vacuum leaks, check the mounting bolts at the intake for tightness. Make sure all the vacuum hoses are good too. Use some soapy water, you'll see instantly if there is a leak or not.
Leaking EGR or plugged PCV
How's your airfilter ? Its a dumb ? but ...
Dirty or clogged injectors?

Problem Solved!
Dug around underneath and found the inlet tube going into the s/c was loose. I just hope that sucking in unfiltered air didn't mess up my s/c too much.
Thanks for the replies.
