With that heads/cam set-up, your car needs a 3000+ stall a LOT more than it needs some 3.73 gears right now. The stall will do much more for your performance as well as help out with some of your drivability issues.

Then later add the gears to compliment your torque converter...

The Scanmaster is giving me codes 16 - OptiSpark low resolution pulse not found and code 48 - MAF sensor circuit.

Make sure your MAF is plugged in....but I also think that bunker is on track with the IAC counts and table adj.

If you do not have a laptop with datamaster or freescan...buddy up with someone who does. This can tell you BUNCHES of things that you may never have known.

When I installed my cam, I didn't line up the 12 'o clock and 6 'o clock dots on the timing gears right - it was skewed/retarded by 1 tooth.

Sucks that I had to tear it back down all over again but once I got that fixed, the car drove like a dream. Before that, the car was choking and sputtering under load, although it idled fine and sounded like one chunky *** cam (even for a hotcam).

Just something to check when you're all out of ideas, I guess. Good luck!

We double checked it so I think the timing is fine... Well, atleast I really hope so! I've also heard problems about IAC counts and what not and having to drill out the hole a little bigger.

But I'm also thinking if there's a MAF sensor circuit problem, that would cause horrible driveability.

I'll see what I can do about Datamaster or Freescan.

yeah, make sure your MAF is working..if its not, your car will not run good at all using the VE tables.

By the way man, i am in the same boat you are....230/236 cam and ported head swap. I have a tune from PCM4less, but i still have the exact same problems u are having. Idles at 900RPM just fine, but wont drive for crap. I hope it's just crossed wires.

good luck to us,

trav

Because it will ignore MAF readings and run in Speed Density mode (think 1993 cars). If it's a MAF problem, then it should run better with it unplugged, and you'll know you need a new MAF

I got a question for you thats a little off the subject. When i go to shift my car the RPM's jump up to like 3000 RPM, completely randomly. It will stay at 3000 rpm by itself until i let the cluch out in the next lower gear. Do you think this could have anything to do with the MAF. I ask this cuz you really seem to know what you are talking about when it comes to annoying computer problems.

any added info would be greatly appreciated
