car scans code 43
Had a post earlier this week about my SES light being on and kicking my fans on. Had the car scanned today and scanned code 43. The fellow that scanned it for me was using a actron scanner if that helps any. Just wondering what code 43 means and how I can fix it.

Re: car scans code 43
just curious can you buy one at the parts store or is it a dealer part. Also the knock sensor just screws out so I can use a socket or is there a special tool it requires.
thanks again

Re: car scans code 43
You can buy them at a parts house or dealer. I bought one a couple of months ago for about 35 bucks. I used a socket to get my old one out. I warmed the car up, sprayed the old ks down with pb blaster and finally got the damn thing out. btw watch out of all that hot coolant.

Re: car scans code 43
If he's got DTC 43, either the wire is bad or the sensor is bad. Since the PCM will not retard timing based on KS input when the code is active, its not going to respond to hitting the block with a hammer.
Pull the wire off the KS. Key on, probe from the single wire to ground with a volt meter. Should read 5V. If you have 5V on the wire, with the connector still off, probe from the single pin on the KS to the block with an ohm meter. Should read 4,400 ohms +/-1,000 ohms. If you've made it this far within spec, reattach the connector and read the voltage between the wire and the block. Should be 2.5V +/-1.0V.
