car runs really bad with new setup :( help!

Ok I went to the track last week & got horrible numbers, I had misfires & hickups, now I switched back to the opti (prolly bad coil) & seems the misfires are gone but the car hickups a lot, basicly around 1700rpm in 6th gear on the HWY it has this annoying vibe but its not as bad as before with a dead coil which I presume it was.

But what the hell is with the hickups? if I'm driving & I want to accelarate (mostly highway only) especially in 6th gear I'll give it gas its ok at first, give it a bit more & it hickups & goes again, almost like its shutting off under load, is this mean my TB is too big or cam is too big for those rpms? does it mainly around 1500-2000 rpm & if I try to accelerate a bit in 5th gear just to speed up it hickups a little again but at this time I'm doing 3krpm. Does seems to misfire at high rpms although after driving for a while it did hisitate a bit at 6k+ but I might have hit the rev limiter I dunno, other then that if I floor it, she goes pretty smooth, but I can't drive her. I have stock 3.42 gears I dunno is this normal? thanx guys LMK this is been going on for so long I have to finally turn to this board for help, please.

Sounds a little like cam surge. Mine does it when the converter locks at 60mph.

thats what mine did with the converter locked up and under load, and if the a/c was on forget it

low rpm + load(ie 6 th gear) + bad opti = hickups / or hesitation

Yes gear will fix it since the RPMs will be higher. When mine did it for the first time I though my A4 tranny was about to fall apart, took it up to 70 (2500rpm approx) and she rode like a champ.

You can fix some surge with tuning. Usually by retarding the ignition timing in those low rpm areas.

Hmm... retarding timing to get rid of it ehh? good call I was adding I think, I'll hook up my crane box, & try turning the Retard **** 0-20* up to retard more when I feel its lurching & see if that takes care of it, if it does, I'll make not exactly how much was required at what RPM & then edit the tune accordingly, cuz it gets annoying with LT1 edit all the time
