Could someone verify operation of their evap purge solenoid??

I need to know when the car is idling:

1) Is there vacuum on the lower solenoid port (going away from the TB)?

2) If there is, does the vacuum close when the electrical connection is removed?

Thanks is advance.

c'mon guys, it's not like I'm asking for a lot here. The evap solenoid is is on the passenger side of the intake. Help a guy out here.

When the solenoid is operated, it allows vacuum to flow through it. It is not supposed to operate under idle conditions, therefore there should be no vacuum on the bottom port that goes to the charcoal canister.

yeah, that's what I was afraid of. It is letting vacuum through all the time even when unplugged (not energized). The thing is, I just replaced that solenoid too. Maybe I got a bad part?

If you put test vacuum on the top port when it is not energized, it should hold vacuum. The bottom port may not perfectly hold vacuum, but it is on the downstream side, so it does not matter. So, test the top port only.

yeah, when I put test vacuum on the top port it does not hold vacuum at all and I tried the same with my old solenoid that was replaced, didn't hold vacuum either. Looks like I'll be ordering another solenoid. Thanks for your help.
