car runs in open loop mode (all times)

well after i put in a brand new freshly rebuilt tranny with a 3200 stall..my O2 sensors went out and are throwing a code...

i had it scanned and it was driver side one, but its not hurting my performance at all...

why is this?

i figured bad O2's would cause the car to bog and run rich or something?

Re: car runs in open loop mode (all times)

when i had my hooker lt's hooked up, i didnt have the extensions for the 02 sensors. So basically my car was in open loop the entire time. All open loop does, more or less, is add more fuel and in my case, increase your idle slightly. It really didnt hurt anything. When your floor your car, it goes into open loop anyways. The only thing it hurt was the gas mileage and you run the risk of fouling out your plugs faster. Hope this helps.

What was the specific code? Not all "O2 sensor" codes mean the O2 sensors are faulty... might be something else. Impossible to answer the question without the specific code.

open loop = when engine is cold...
closed loop = when engine is up to temp and O2's control fueling
PE mode = WOT blast (O2's ignored)
