No torque down low AND makes a nasty sound? That leads me to think you have an exhaust leak. Extra o2 will leak into the exhaust before the o2 sensor and tell it that the car is lean. It will then compensate with more gas making your car rich in actuality hindering performance. That could be the culprit if you have a leak.

hmmm.... now that you mention it my connection for the EGR off of the header does'nt have a gasket on it now, just some rtv that might have got smeared on the install, and my gas mileage has gone to hell. Could that cause this problem?

were you referring to me or bridman....cause my car ran fine with open headers, then after i had the ehxuast put on my y pipe and 2 cats with the flanges...it started to mes up after i drove it from the shop.....so your saying a header leak on the bottom of the car could cause this?

Please don't listen to this statement! When my LTs were installed I drove the car with open headers until I got my exhast fabbed up and I never lost ANY power down low! I gained all across the board. I let one of my friends with a 96 T/A M6 drive my car and he said I had wayyy more power down low than his did with stock manifolds and up top too. Don't let the "LTs only gain up top and loose tq down low" fool you. Its not true!

Hey bud, next time open your eyes before you say something.

It clearly says, "IT'S GONNA FEEL LIKE IT HAS NO POWER DOWN LOW"

And in which it does feel like it.

Also, it's doubtful you have a leak on the EGR connection. I don't think anybody has ever had a problem with that. And you may not even have a leak at all. Leaks will probably come in after you put the rest of your exhaust on (if any). More pressure on the gaskets.

Actually I think my car pulled harder with open headers, Stop and go driving, it felt like a slug. We must have different SOTP.
