car runs like crap when cold started!!!
car runs like crap when cold started!!!
I've noticed that when I start my car when it's about 30-35 degrees or less outside it runs like absolute as$ for the first couple minutes. I'm getting a very loud tick (sounds like one of my promags) that just started recently, along with what sounds like a misfire. But no SES light. After a minute or two, it quiets down and runs normally. Doesn't do it unless it's a cold start first thing in the morning. I figured the FI would prevent these problems. Anybody experience something like this?

Mine runs terrible on a cold start on a cold day. Let it heat up, the lifters pump up, and everything's fine. I dont think we've met, you ever come out to TMCA meets?

Never thought about that but that would explain the ticking noise. I have my rockers adjusted 1/4 past zero lash. I'm also running Comp high energy lifters.

mine does the same thing when it's started in cold 30-35 degree weather. First like 2 minutes minutes it runs liek crap. Then it starts to run OK for a brief minute or two more before hitting closed loop at which point it runs fine but idles like crap

That's probably it. I'll scan it when I got back to Tallahassee during a cold start, but I'm guessing it's running that way because of the slack in the valvetrain while it's cold. Hell, it ticks enough while it's warm but it makes me nervous when it's cold, it ticks so loud it's almost like a knock. Damn thing sounds like an internal combustion sewing machine
I dont think we've met, I went out to a meet once while I was in town. I spend alot of time in NC because I'm stationed at Fort Bragg, but I come home fairly often. Try to do all my major car work when I do. My car is easy to recognize, I have silver C5 widespokes and a tailpanel painted to match.
