Car runs like crap w/ A/C is on
why doesnt the place you take it to put any dye in the system and see where it shoots out at? you def have a leak... so if it from an o-ring, good. if it is from the case on your compressor.. bad. but either way, if you ever plan on using your ac again, then having a hole allows moisture to seep into the system, and can ruin parts, ie your dryer, etc.
i too, have a horsepower robbing a/c! feels like about 40 hp! no ****.
i once raced my friend in his 97 gt. i had a/c on and it was about even. he was in front and kicked it first and i could not gain any until about 80 mph.
the next day we did it again and i had to let off in first because i almost hit him in the ***! i wasnt expecting that to happen.

Guys:
You're ALWAYS going to lose power with the A/C on. It puts a strain on the engine when the compressor clutch kicks in. Advice: Don't try to race with the A/C on. Your times will be off.
As for the rough idle with the A/C on, my Purple Pearl car was having that problem. I took a look at Datamaster, and the IAC was wacky. I'd say first and foremost take your IAC off and clean it, or replace it. Then go from there if that doesn't fix the problem.

I would leave everything alone. Most everybodies front seal leaks. It's normal(or adnormal)for these cars. The air conditioning compressor is engaging ,then, disengaging, eratically because the air conditioning clutches are slipping.I blew mine while blasting the car while getting on the freeway. Now I turn it off when I'm blasting it.(It's not really a clutch, but two metal pieces clamping onto each other when the air is turned on.It's the compressor.My02

you shouldn't notice any difference when a/c is on or off. it might rob only a couple of horses. i can't tell a difference at all in my car.
definatley another problem most likely what scooby said.

All LT1's with the AC on, with a M6, see a BIG difference in driveability. It's a fact of life. It's normal.
With an A4, you don't feel the change as much, but it's still there. You don't feel the extra lag on the engine, bringing down your RPM's, because it's an auto.

Its supposed to, maybe you have a misadjusted TPS, or a faulty one. If its not reading I believe 85% or higher than number one your computer is not kicking into WOT mode and that could possibly be your reason for not disengaging.
when ever i run my ac the voltage reads below 13 and when i shut the car off it wont start like its killing the battery unless my aternator is junk, which its usually always right on 13 or slightly above except when it gets warmed up

Can you just unplug the A/C Compressor? You know like *whistling* if the *Whistling* Compressor blew *more whistling* and you no longer need it. ?? Will that prevent the clutch from engaging.

I'm not quite sure what you are asking, but you can unplug it. An easier way is to unplug the pressure switch which is located on the shock tower. You will see two small silver pipes. One will have a sensor sticking out of it. Just unplug the sensor and the computer will prevent the compressor from coming on (clutch will not engage)

I was driving around last night and blew the seals on the A/C...I think the clutch is locking up somehow (It ruined my belt and broke the tensioner pulley free from its bracket..pulled the bolts right out.) So I want to prevent that from happening at all.
