car runs like crap HELP!!

car is running like complete crap! when it warms up it back fires constantly, it feels like it is missing very badly. i replaced the plugs (TR6's gapped at .030)and wires, and have been looking for something broken but cant find anything! the odd part is when the CEL comes on the car stops backfireing. im starting to thing this has something to do with my highend miss! help please!!
i should add when i pulled the plugs, the pass. side where completely rich, like black black and the drivers side looked normal.

Which car are you referring to? That plug gap is a little tight. Do you have nitrous? If not, the tr6 may be too cold of a plug. If the plug is too cold, it will cause misfires.

We'll assume the CEL is what most of us call the SES. Did you have it scanned? Since the SES light and the elimination of poor running go hand in hand, it would seem like the code might contain a significant clue to the source of the problem.

if the car runs better with the ses light on the first 2 things that i would check are 02 sensors and MAF.
If either of those are really bad they can make the run really weird, when the ses light comes on the computer is basicly ignoring the problem sensor ie the 02 sensor.

So go get the thing scanned, i think alot of auto parts stores will do it for free.

no emmisions equiptment on my car. i took the MAF off of my 97 SS and put it on my 95 and it didnt help, next is the O2 sensors. this is where i wish my data logging cable would freakin work! i have tuner cat and some scanning software for my 95, but the software doesnt pick up any signal from the ECU.

unplug the 02's and reset the computer and see if it still does it.

I agree with everyone else and get it scanned. I always had problems getting my 95 scanned at auto part stores due to the OBDI computer with the OBDII plug.

To read a 95 with the correct OBD-I scanner. courtesy of Shoebox:

Sort of surprised you can spray a 300-shot on a TR6. I run at least one step colder than that with a 125-shot, and several steps colder on a 300-shot.
