car over heats and dies HELP!
My camaro will over heat and then die..
Starts spraying anti freeze all over the ground. It looks like my balancer is soaked.... could a leaking water pump cause my car to heat up fast and do this?

Re: car over heats and dies HELP!
Losing coolant - as evidenced by "spraying anti freeze all over the ground" - will cause the engine to overheat, no matter where its leaking from.
Re: car over heats and dies HELP!
There is a weep hole and when the water pump bladder goes bad, it will come out of there. Its under the water pump. If this is where your leak is, then you need to replace the pump. First thing is to figure out where the coolant is coming from. Getting the opti wet is a bad thing!
Re: car over heats and dies HELP!
how do you properly bleed the system?
ive been looking up on how to do it and i cant find anything that i trust... i trust everyones word on here more then anything or anyone...
and another thing..
ive noticed that my radiator is cold from the top to about 4 inches down, from there it gets warmer and warmer as you go down....(ha thats what she said) Sorry about that had to...
im not running a thermostat in the car, i took it out for now as it was clogged bad from sitting for 8 years,
but i know my anti freeze is getting into the motor cause when i changed the water pump gaskets it leaked out,
thanks for the help guys,

Re: car over heats and dies HELP!
Sitting for eight years could have done all kinds of things. I would put a thermostat in and check all the hoses closely. Sounds like you are trying to bandage things and not fix them correctly. I would get the radiator power flushed and keep an eye on the leaking to see exactly where it is coming from.

Thanks, told me everything i need to know, thanks alot.
oh also, how can i check to see if my water pump is going or has already went?
i dont remember seeing how to check that on shoebox....
Re: car over heats and dies HELP!
There is a weep hole on the bottom of the pump housing. If the pump is failing, coolant will be dripping out the weep hole.............. directly onto the distributor and the serpentine belt.
If you look at this picture from Shoebox, you can see the hole on the bottom of the pump housing:

Re: car over heats and dies HELP!
Does your oil pressure gauge always read at the max above 80psi. Typically means the wire is off the sensor, or the sensor is deceased. And you drove it at 155MPH with all those lights on? Plus it still needs fuel. Kiss your fuel pump goodbye.
Does it idle at 2,000 RPM or did you have your foot on the throttle?
Was the e-brake on in those photos? If not, the "BRAKE" light is indicating you have an unacceptable pressure difference between the front and rear braking systems. That in turn would turn on the "ABS INOP" light. Or there might be a whole 'nother set of problems turning on the "ABS INOP" light. Only way to tell is to have the EBCM scaned for codes, which requires a high-end scanner like the Tech-1 or Tech-2 that the dealer mechanics use.
To turn off the low coolant light, assuming the leaking radiator isn't really low, unplug the sensor. If its on because of the leaking radiator.... well.....
