Car lurches when driving slow

when im driving through parking lots and all, in first or second, if i idle or just barely get on the gas, the car lurches back and forth a lot. what's causing that? is it just the rough idle from the cam?

That is cam surge. I'm assuming you haven't tuned the car yourself? Most of that can be fixed...especially with a small cam like the HOTcam. With a good tune that cam will drive much like stock...especially with ported heads (I'm assuming they were milled...helps compression a little).

Yup although it could be plug/wires thing I doubt it, ussually this kind of behaviour is caused by either vacume leaks, valves are not sealing properly, or if you have a cam like a hotcam even this may be the case from the reversion back into the intake (like an EGR turning on or off), could also be the EGR if you have one, also try playing with the timing a little, take out some timing may help as too much mid range timing can cause that too and an intermittent sound from the engine kinda like its misfiring at idle, if you have too much timing there.

I have the hot cam kit installed with pcmforless tune. My car has some cam surge if I try to idle in first or second. Just above idle to about 1300rpm a slight surge can be felt in first and second gear under no load not accelerating holding speed steady. Under load accelerating 1100 rpm and up it is steady with no bucking.

ya, that's about how mine is, just with barely any gas it surges quite a bit.

the car idles pretty rough, i was suprised for the hotcam. it's been tuned, and the car idles around 1000 rpm's

My used to surge alot more than I did, I replaced my imitation K&N with a real one, and some of it went away. But alot of it is still there. Everytime I get a new tune it gets a little better thou.
