My guess is the AIR pump, since you seem to indicate it happens in the morining and that is when it would first come on. Probably some moisture in it.

Most of the time it is corroded wiring inside the pump and replacement of the pump is your option. I am not sure if you could open one up and do anything with it. Possibly.

The other option would be to remove it and have it programmed out of the pcm so there would be no SES caused by it not being there. That option might depend on your local emissions code, though.

You could unplug the pump just to keep the fuse from blowing, but it will probably trigger the SES on your 1997.

Maybe someone else can chime in with their experiences.

Mine has been blowing the fuses lately too. Not as often as yours, but about 1 a month.

This cold weather may be loading the air pump a bit extra... seems moisture is a possibility, and it freezes, inside... mine has been cranky too[lights dimming when it starts, etc..]
Maybe unplug it til it warms up some..

Im having the same problem. But i removed my AIR pump. WHen i replace the fans fuse and crank the car the fuse blows about 1-2 mins after. Does it everytime. I dont know if my headers have burned some wires somewhere or what. I still havent figured it out.
