Car just started missing and finally died for good in the rain

I got off work tonight, and it was pouring out. So I decided to drive to my friends house 5 miles away, the car ran perfect, didn't skip a beat. Then when I left his house 10 minutes later, it started missing right away. At first it was only when I touched the gas, then it got worse and started missing all the time. Then it would barley run, it felt like it was on 1-2 cylinders, and it died a few times, but I was barley able to get it started. Then a mile from my house it died, and I couldn't get it started. I smelled raw fuel, so I knew it wasn't getting any spark, and it was probably flooded. So I pulled the injector fuse, cranked it over for ~5 seconds to get all the gas out of the cylinders, and tried to start it again. It didn't even catch once. When I got it in my garage, I looked under it, and the timing chain cover doesn't have a drip of water on it, so I know the opti isn't wet. Could it be coincidence that my opti with ~5K miles on it decided to just shatter out of nowhere? And none of the plug wires are burnt or anything. One thing that my car started doin in the last week or so, is if I was at say a steady 40mph, under very light throttle, I could barley feel my car missing. So I think I might have a pre-existing ignition problem. And there are no codes being thrown either.

*edit* I've driven to school in the rain on the turnpike, a 25 mile trip, many times, and this has never happened before.

is your filter on your CAI tight? if water (you said it was raining) got into the motor that might add to the power loss..

Well I started it this morning before work, it started but it was missing when i gave it gas. So I'm home now during my break, and its not missing at all, so I'm going to push my luck and take it to work and see if its ok. I guess something got wet, an 02 wire or something, who knows.

Hey my cars doint the exact same thing yours is, sometimes when i drive it it wont do it nearly as bad but then other times it does it real bad, and its like you said if i give it little throttle it dosnt do it but as soon as i accel hard it misfires, im changing my plugs and wires, hopefully that will fix it, I dont wanna buy a new opti
