It takes about a 14 mph impact for the airbag to deploy.

The guy said that he was hit in the rear, but it just did a number on the paint job, but instead of having it repainted, he went through the insurance company to have everything replaced.

Yeah, but on front end impacts 30 degrees either side of the center of the car. If they deploy on a rear end then there is a problem with the system.
