Car Dies at Idle

Since going to the track this past Thursday my car will not idle for more than 30 seconds without dieing!!! I think this may be related to the issue I was/still am having with light throttle stumble. It doesn't stumble at idle, just suddenly dies then I can start it right back up. The car runs fine otherwise. I am definitely not losing HP, the car made some strong runs at the track.

I thought it may be the MSD 6AL I temporarily had on the car so I replaced it with my Digital 6 that I just got back from MSD and the problem is still there. I also cleaned the MAF and monitored my TPS voltage (seems normal) to see if I could fix the problem...no luck.

Car idles at about 550-575 (is this low???)

Could this be a vacuum issue or should I look elsewhere?

I am gonna check for a vacuum leak in the morning and maybe pull a couple plugs just to see if they are ok since the problem came about after a run on spray.

Let me know where I should go if I don't find a vacuum issue.

Thanks!

Eric

Re: Car Dies at Idle

Ok, so far I have:

Cleaned MAF...didn't help
Checked all vacuum connections and hoses...nothing
Checked and Cleaned IAC by hand and with car running...nada

Still have yet to pull and check plugs, but I really don't think that's it

Parts on my short list that may be causing this:
IAC...maybe it's just bad and cleaning was useless
ICM
MAF
Opti

I am going to borrow the IAC, ICM, and MAF off my brother's or friend's cars and see if I can find the culprit. I also have new NGK TR6s that will probably be going onto the car regardless of if the plugs in there look bad or not.

It these don't turn up anything I will take the car to Speed Inc and see if they can find the problem.

If it's the OPTI the car will just get put away until I can get my 355 done. No sense in putting the time or money into an OPTI if I am taking the engine out in a few months anyway.

Stock idle for an A4 is 650 in park/neutral, 550 in drive. Warmed up of course. If you're not already, measure from the PCM as the tach is usually off by a little.

Re: Car Dies at Idle

I am measuring off the PCM, through my Scanmaster.

I realized that the idle was ok as far as RPM goes.

Thanks,
Eric
