Car Dies & Diesels

On my way to Cincy this evening I had a horrible time with the Formula. It was driving just fine without a hint of trouble. Then, it just died. No acces. lights when it died. When I finally got it fired I kept the revs up to 3-4k and when I let off the throttle it just died. It took a little while for it to fire again. It stalled out and started dieseling.

I got about 40 miles away and it just died again. It dieseled and backfired too. I can hear the fuel pump prime. I have been having an issue with it taking a long time for it to start. The fuel pump is a RaceTronix Unit with not even 500 miles on it. Plugs/Wire/Coil/Opti are pretty much new. Although my injectors however are Accel's

If I push the gas while cranking it starts to fire but it's random! I'm possible thinking I have a bad ICM but it had been running all day and when I did get it going it kept going for quite sometime. As long as I didn't really get into the throttle it was okay. I'm thinking maybe it's my crap Accell's finally giving me problems or my ICM. I could clearly hear the fuel pump prime and run everytime it died. I'm ruling that out.

Any ideas...

I hope this won't be very hard to track down. I replaced the Opti about 8 month ago. How do I chase down a set faulty injectors?

When you say it was dieseling was the key turned off? If so I vote the crappy Accel injectors are leaking.

Check the fuel pressure with the KOEO. If the pressure is bleeding off, check the injectors. Lift the fuel rail up where the injectors are out of the bungs and then turn the key on. If you see any of them leaking, you've found your problem.

I went out tonite to just take a look around. I started it right up, no problem. I gave it some gas. Feathered it a little bit till it got up to around 4-5 k. Then it died again. Wouldn't start back up. I also noticed everytime I tried to start it. I heard a very audible HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS for about 5 seconds. I only hear the this after trying to start the car. It was around the throttle body/fuel lines. It seems to coincide with the fuel pump. The pressure is excellent. Isn't erractic and does not bleed off.

The hiss may be the compression bleeding off and you shut the car down (or dies).

I got it started after messing with the connection to the ICM. Didn't stall out or die once. I had it running long enough to drive it to the shop. It still cranks forever before it starts.

I had a new ICM put on the car. It was defective. Car would not start, though the old one would start for a few minutes then die off. I had the new one tested and it was indeed bad. So I'm still waiting on the other to come tomorrow. I'll have it tested before it leaves the store. If this one is bad, I'm going to buy an Ac Delco unit.

Um, have you had all these "defective ICM's" replaced at the same shop?
