Car Dieing Problem. Random....
Randomly the other day when I went to leave aspot that my car had been sitting in My car died when I went to do a three point turn! It started again but every time I went ot drive it died. Then for a couple days it drove and backfired a lot and died once or twice and the other day it died really bad in the middle of the road like the problem is getting worse and worse.
This all started happening after I blew a horn fuse and replaced a 15 amp fuse for accessories or somthing..
I think the other things are coincidence but my thoughts were that this is ignition related. I have an MSD ignition installed in the car and wired to the fuse block that draws a lot of current. I also have a new MSD blaster coil, new plugs and wires.

I was thinkign it was the fuel all week and I was trying to let my bad fuel run out but when I got low on fuel it just died, I threw a gallon in and got her to a station to gas up and after that the problem wasn't as bad but just started dieing a lot. and got worse. The fuel filter was replaced recently but could that be a problem? It felt more like an electrical problem because it runs awesome and just quits randomly.
I have my battery in the trunk and the wire coming from my distribution block up front that go's into the factory harness red distribution block is a smaller gauge wire then the other wires it is about 10 or 8 gauge and the other wires are 4 gauge. Lately this has been heating up and this happens to be the same terminal as the positive lead for my MSD ignition. Could this be causing a problem????
Everything has been running fine then this just started happening.

It's not your battery or your starter wire. To confirm your battery is ok and your alternator is working properly, put a volt meter across the battery with the car off. You should have about 12.6 volts and even as low as 11 will crank the starter. Then start the car and see if the voltage is higher than when the car was off. This shows the alternator is charging the battery.
IMO your fuel pump is on the way out. At my buddies shop we see it all the time. Almost always when he gets the car, it has a full tank of gas. Right before the car was filled up it was probably run low on fuel. We summize that the pump is getting too hot since the fuel level was allowed to go too low. Then they fill the tank with nice cool fuel and the pump can't handle going from hot to cold that fast. (just a theory)
I have had 2 vehicles with bad fuel pumps and they would work for while then cut out and work for a while and cut out.
If I were you I wold change the fuel filter and have the injectors cleaned. Once that is done I would then monitor the fuel pressure with a gage that has a hose so you can see it while driving.
Obviously if you observe the car doing the same thing and see the fuel pressure at 42PSI then there is some other problem. This observation of the fuel system is easy and you won't be throwing unnecessary parts at a problem in hopes that it fixes it. At this point however with little trouble shooting to go by, I would wager money on the fuel system.
Hope this helps. If it doesn't you can yell at me later. LOL

Thanks for the input. I am going to start routing through problems today. I hope to god it isn't the fuel pump because that is a bit*h a** job. Where is a good place to get a nice fuel pressure gauge to hook to that shrader valve that we all have on our fuel rails?
AWESOME NEWS: I fixed the damn problem...
I had my MSD power wire hooked up at the red distribution block on the same side as the power lead coming from the battery. I retartedly left the main lead of the MSD cut off and bare wire and twisted it around the positive lead on the battery connector at the distribution block. Eventually the wires seperated and the nut loosened and this block was getting very very hot! It melted a tiny bit of plastic and melted a little msd wire to the positive lead wire! I saudered a real end connector to the msd + and fastened it with the other computer harness wires then cleaned everything up.
Distribution block perfectly cool
Car running mint condition
