car died on way to work

My d95 z28 died going down the highway and now will not start. I got the car to start one time and it idled at 200 to 400 rpm and when i gave it a little gas it died again. Before today the only problem with the car was that it had a miss in the 1500 to 2000 range.

it sounds like your opti-spark has given out on you. but you could check the following first ,before you spend $289 or more for an opti ( Summit or Jegs).........

- check plugs & wires
- check ignition coil
- check ignition module
- check your msd ( if you have one )

9 times out of 10 ,it will probably be your opti-spark thats bad.

Re: car died on way to work

Is there a way to check the coil and module without taking it to a dealership or mechanic. And is there anything else that i should check so that I dont spend $300 for nothing.

Thanks for the help.

The motor turns over? Have you ever replaced your coil wire, and if so, how long ago? I had a similar problem once and my car wouldn't start, but crank over. It was a bad coil wire. No prior symptoms, it just went bad.
