Sounds like you have a bad opti. Get the GM one and i always change the cap and rotor to aftermarket.

Are these one of the "fakes" all Ignition was selling? the Add says "Unit is produced by AC Delco Manufacturer

Complete Ignition Distributor

100% Brand New

This is a Direct Replacement Part"
I already paid 4 it.

That's the one I bought. I've only driven the car 100 miles since I installed it, so I don't know how long it may last, but it works fine now.

I opened my old opti and the problem was the bearing failed and the bottom of the rotor got so hot it melted. Everything else looked very good after 93000 miles.

Oh did the opti you ordered a true ac delco? Did it come in an ac delco box?

my previous opti was from ebay too the seller was ALL ignition it lasted me about 1000 plus miles. When i took it off it sounds all loose and when i spin the spline its all grindy and the number 4 connection is burnt black. but im getting it exchanged.

It's not AC/Delco. It's an aftermarket part which is what I was expecting.

mine did something like this a few weeks ago after an engine detail, it was running kind of rough, then just died and wouldnt restart... after cranking it for 5 mins or so and then just letting it sit for 20, it started up and was running kind of rough but i decided to drive it home, halfway home the car started running fine... i think the opti just got a little wet
