Car Died
Car Died
Was following my friend to the his mechanic today and my car died. I stopped at a stop light and when I took off it stalled hard. I pushed the clutch and the car stayed cranked but the stall jolted the car hard, I checked my gauges and all was good. I took off from the stall and drove normally, shifted 1,2,3,4,5,6, Then when I got to sixth gear and accelerated it started sputtering and backfiring bad then died I coasted to the median. The car would turn over fine and even fire once or twice but not enough to start the car. Has anyone had this problem. I though maybe my timing jumped from the hard stall from the stop light but if it did I figured it would have not have made it to sixth gear. It's at the shop now. Anyone have this problem and solve it? If so help me out.
I had a simmilar problem...The car would crank crank and crank. It would sputter sometimes. It turned out to be the "coil" wire that goes to the top of the opti. It was all corroded up. I went to Chevy, $10 bucks later it fired right up and ran great. Try that, see what that does. Good Luck
found the problem. seems that the piece of carbon in the center of the opti cap popped out and destroyed the rotor, knocked off the tip. lucky for me it didn't fall behind the plastic shield and destroy the optical sensor and stuff. Still costed $350. had to pay someone to do it. don't have a lift at my house
