Car is cutting out....why??

This started the other day, and I don't know what it is. Whenever I get on it, my car will cut out and stutter. It doesn't start to stutter until about 3k. My car does have 112k miles, so maybe it is plugs, wires, maybe opti? Or is this fuel related? Any help is greatly appreciated

Check the fuel pressure using a gauge while driving and see what it does. Tape it to the windshield.

I had the same problem and it ended up being spark plugs. All in all a good tune up would help. Plugs, maybe wires, oil, fuel filter, etc... if its the fuel pump, do the easy cut out idea instead of paying someone to remove your rear end and dropping the tank.

When was the last time the plugs and wires were changed?

Also try tapping the MAF sensor on the air intake when the engine is running. If it makes the car almost die or actually dies then its your MAF. Dirty or broken. Just tap it don't beat it obviously.

I had a buddy with a very similar problem. Turned out that his coil wire wasn't on all of the way and was arching through the boot on the opti side.

It would drive perfect with no problems until he stood in it.

just for $hits and giggles, check your cat. mine was clogged and the car would NOT rev past 4000rpm and felt slow and studdered past 3000. costs nothin to check it, might as well.

85% of the time the problem is going to be electrical. start with the cheapest part/way to check whether or not the part is bad. swap coil/icms with a willing donor car or friend.

if pluggs have not been done for a while it would be one of the cheapest replacements. pluggs foul commonly with headers.

sounds like an opti, possibly a clogged fuel filter. or possible your t.p.s ( throttle position sensor) this happene to my friends car and it acted similar to what your describing.

This turned out to be my fuel pump. The only fuel pressure gauge that I had access to had the wrong fitting for my schrader valve, so I had a guy hit my fuel tank while I tried to start it. Everytime he hit the fuel tank, the car would try to start. Put in the new fuel pump, and everything works great
