Car cutting off

My cousin has a '96 Z28 and you can start it and it will run for a few minutes and then it just dies. No miss, no sputtering just cut off. Does anybody know what could be causeing this?

his security light has been on since he got the car. Would that have anything to do with it?

it may have somthing to do with VATS (vehicle anti theft system) but usually a car wouldnt start

have the security checked first
